Transfer Orientation

8:30: Breakfast & Check in

Check in, chat with some peer leaders, and enjoy a continental breakfast before the welcome session. Be sure to register for this program at least a week in advance so that you can easily check in for the program. 


9:00 Welcome Session

The program begins with an official welcome from the New Student Orientation team. This session will help you understand the program schedule format and available services for the day.

 


9:20: Transfer resource panel

Representatives from Admissions, Registrar, Office of Academic Advising, and Placement Testing, fellow students, and transfer student alumni will discuss their recommendations for a smooth transition process and then will answer any general questions that you might have.

9:00-4:00: Ids

Those who have registered for one or more courses, can obtain their student ID photo throughout the day except 12:00-1:00.


10:00: Academic advisement

 

If you did not already receive academic advisement prior to orientation, this will be an opportunity to learn more about the curriculum and expectations for your major. Peer leaders will take you to your respective adviser in the following locations:

11:00: transfer student academic success

The Peer Adviser Liaisons (PALs) from the Center for Student Success will share important information from a student perspective that will help you make the transition to NJIT.

 Career Development Opportunities: Learn how to build your resume writing, interviewing, and job search skills and obtain co-ops and internships.

12:00: lunch & Small groups

 

Lunch: Lunch will be available, pick up a bite to eat and attend one of the sessions or take a break in the Campus Center.

 

Student Meet & Greet: Want to meet more students? Get a chance to meet fellow incoming students through a speed meeting activity. A Peer Leader will provide some structured questions for you to discuss with one person for a minute, then you will rotate to a new person and get a new question.  

 


12:30: Breakout session II

Lunch (continued): Lunch will be available, pick up a bite to eat and attend one of the sessions or take a break in the Campus Center.

 

Getting Involved at NJIT: Explore how to get connected and engaged with your new NJIT community with the many involvement opportunities including 100+ student organizations, campus-wide events, cultural celebrations, and leadership programs! You will also gain a better understanding of NJIT's thriving fraternity and sorority community and the many benefits to getting involved!

2:00-4:00: credit evaluation & Course registration

Credit Evaluation: If you have courses that still require evaluation after sending in your transcripts, there will be faculty and advisers from various departments who will be available to assist you. Have your supporting documents ready (course description, unofficial transcript, course syllabus).
